We started off our day at Entre Amigos and met up with Eric, the man from the Allianza Jaguar. Eric has a new security plan in town that involves people having access to whistles that they blow should they encounter a security problem. He is the ‘real deal’ and you notice his passion for nature and his community when he speaks. We stopped by Axel’s Cafe and ordered one mango pie along with a freshly made load of whole wheat bread that we took home and had for lunch with egg salad.
It was a sunny day at the beach, so we took our books, went to our favourite log and watched Robert sculpt his ‘sand’ jaguar. Robert and several children on the beach chased a golden retriever, that had a sand toy in his mouth. He was not about to give it up.
Later on that afternoon, we met up with Recia and Libby for fish dinner at ‘ La Chalupa’s’ where we all feasted on red snapper. Recia and Libby invited us down to the Villa Paradise where they are staying. It stands out on the beach because it looks like the Taj Mahal. On the way to their place, we met Mirco, who was selling his artfully woven bracelets. Rob and Sue bought two jaguar jade bracelets for their grandsons. This stone represents “hope”. They also purchased a beautiful garnet and opal necklace for their favourite granddaughter. These stones represent love and reflection.
Farther up the beach, we stopped at the turtle nursery to see if any turtles were being released. We saw none tonight so we will have to check again tomorrow evening. Frank, the turtle savior, always needs volunteers to assist in getting them into the ocean safely.
When we arrived at Recia and Libby’s palace, we had tea on their balcony and watched the sun set from their second storey terrace. It looked like the sky was on fire.
After walking home on the darkened beach, the day ended with Robert working on his latest picture book, entitled, “Keystone”. It is the story of how the children of San Pancho saved our planet. Milla and Susan decided to make smoothies for their bedtime snack.
