Yesterday evening, we met our neighbour, Juan, who is a healer. He offered to drive us into Bucerias today but we decided to travel by the Compostela bus. Down busy highway 200 with its many curva peligrosos, we bounced for about 45 minutes before we arrived at Bucerias. We went to the DeCameron Hotel there to visit with our friend Kathy and Bill on the beach. Bucerias is a few miles north of Puerto Vallarta sitting in Banderas Bay. It was sunny, hot and beautiful day. We stopped in downtown Bucerias for lunch at Luna Luna.
Rob and Sue finally got a chance to boogie board in the surf. Sue was tossed about once and got a slight whip lash. Rob ate some strange taco concoction being brewed by some Mexican men on the beach. Bill had a cold so he went back to his hotel room to sleep it off. Kathy and Milla drank fancy drinks while watching the young college students frolic on the beach. We made plans for Kathy and Bill to visit us on Saturday in San Pancho and attend a polo match and eat some fresh fish.
We arrived back in San Pancho around 6:45 p.m. just in time for the sunset. After buying some fresh fruit and veggies from our friend Moy, who drives his truck up and down Main St. all day selling food, we hurried to the beach. The sun was just about to set and the beach was crowded with a group of people trying to help the baby Olive Ridley turtles make it into the ocean. When the baby turtles hatch on the beach, they head for the ocean. Each baby has an egg sack attached to feed it up to 7 days while trying to swim out to the plankton located 6 miles offshore. The plankton is located in the swift current that moves parallel to the beach. The turtles live in the current up to 16 years before they return to the very same beach where they hatched. They are returning to lay their own eggs. Frank is the turtle expert in San Pancho and his website is ... www.project-tortuga.org. If you love to learn, go and read more about Frank and the turtles.
We returned to Casa Tequila for supper and bed.
P.S. Julia Butterfly Hill lived in a 200 foot Redwood tree in California for two years so that the loggers couldn’t cut it down. She wrote a book about her experience called, “Luna”.
P.S.S. Robert has not read a whole book for a very long time, and finally on this vacation read a book called, “Push”. He recommends it to his daughter and granddaughter but no one else.
